Under 14 Hurling League Champions
South East U-14 Hurling League semi-final
Carrigaline v Sliabh Rua
Carrigaline returned to Crosshaven for another semi-final on Wed last for the second time in a week. The Owenabue side had too much for Sliabh Rua on this occasion. J O Keeffe had a fine game in the forwards and looked dangerous every time he had the ball. R O Shea and S Caffrey also stood out in the forward division. C Malone and L Hanlon never put a foot wrong and M Hanlon, D Hickey and J Kind also hurled well. In the end Carrigaline ran out comfortable winners.

South East U-14 Hurling League Final
Carrigaline 6-11 Courcey Rovers 1-3

Carrigaline travelled to Kinsale for a keenly awaited league final on Friday last. Carrigaline were not to disappoint their support, as they put in a commanding performance. The early exchanges were close and points from Ciaran Malone, Robert O Shea and Cian O Flynn saw Carrig leading 0-5 to 0-2 after twenty minutes of play. Two goals in two minutes for Carrig put substantial daylight between the teams by the twenty-fifth minute. The first was a great individual effort from full-forward Cian O Flynn while centre-forward Robbie O Shea struck the second from a close-in free.
Courceys efforts to respond were thwarted by ice-cool goalkeeping from Eoin Moynihan and great defensive work by the Carrig backs. Anthony O Reilly, Morgan Hanlon and Jamie Kind were towers of strength in the full-back line while the half-back line of Cillian McSweeney, Chris Allen and Diarmuid Hickey kept a very tight rein on their opponents. Cillian was everywhere in that first half displaying some sublime stickwork as he swept up plenty of loose ball to launch relieving clearances from defence.
Although Carrig were playing well in patches they also gave their opposition a little too much space in the first period. At half-time Carrig led by 3-6 to 1-2, the third goal coming from the stick of wing-forward John O Keeffe following a great solo-run.
Carrigaline came out with the right attitude in the second period and with the back division on top the Courcey forwards found it difficult to register scores. The wholehearted display of the Carrig team was typified by captain Luke Hanlon who made a full length diving block to inspire his team. Robert O Shea was a constant threat and John O Keeffe and Michael Lynch also registered scores. When Michael broke through the Courcey rearguard to kick the ball to the net early in the second half the title was heading to Carrig. Kevin Kavanagh and Padraic Conway also played their part, with Kevin striking a fine goal in the second period. Substitute Alan Cooney even found time to raise the green flag and Carrig had done enough to record a fine victory. If Carrigaline can maintain this form and work hard in training they will be a match for any side.
. Referee, Donie Harris (Douglas) did an excellent job.

Co Under 14 Feile Peil semi-final Carrigaline 2-9 St Michaels 3-8
Carrigaline took on a strong St. Michaels side in the semi-final of the Feile Peil at Crosshaven. Following a brave and committed display by the Carrig lads, the reigning champions were relieved to come away with a narrow victory at the end of a great hour’s football.
At half-time Michaels led on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-3 and looked set to record a comfortable victory. In that first half Carrig had played into the elements and bravely withstood the pressure exerted on them. Stephen O Flynn was very dependable in goal making a number of splendid saves. The full-backline of Anthony O Reilly, Ciaran Malone and Stephen Caffrey were defiant, making timely interceptions and courageous block-downs. Half-backs Cillian McSweeney, Chris Allen and Diarmuid Hickey worked tirelessly and were rarely beaten. In the forward line corner men Martin Molloy and Rob O Shea were working hard but were being closed down quickly by a physically powerful Michaels defence. Injuries to Anthony O Reilly and industrious wing-forward Thomas Kent saw them being replaced at the interval by Peter Bresnan and Stephen Dwane respectively.
Carrigaline came out for the second half in determined mood and produced a magnificent opening five minutes to cut the deficit to a single point. Cian O Flynn started the fight-back with a pointed free and moments later the same player rifled the ball into the top of the net to put Carrig back in the game with a vengeance. Further points by Luke Hanlon and Jamie Kind left a solitary point in the game. Michael’s tried to retaliate but Carrig’s defence were in determined mood and weren’t conceding scores easily. Carrig took the lead with a quarter of an hour to go courtesy of a Jamie Kind goal to leave the score at 2-6 to 1-8. Michaels got through for a goal with eight minutes to go to put them two points ahead. Carrigaline responded with a point from Morgan Hanlon. Substitute Michael Lynch who had replaced the hard-working Padraic Conway then got the equaliser and Rob O’Shea edged Carrig ahead again. With time running out Michaels had the final say and goaled to break Carrig hearts.
St Michaels went on to successfully defend their Feile title with a narrow victory over city rivals Na Piarsaigh in the final.

City Under 13 Hurling League
Carrigaline 2-9 Blackrock 2-5
Blackrock were visitors to Carrigaline on Saturday last to take on the home side in what was a repeat of the 2005 Under-12 County Hurling final. In a closely-contested affair Carrig confirmed their superiority over the Rockies with a four point victory. There were some lovely passages of skilful hurling from both sides in an entertaining game.

County Under 12 Football
Carrigaline 2-10 Beara 2-6
On Saturday last Carrig took on divisional side Beara in the quarter-final of the under-12 County Football Championship. Following a close and exciting contest Carrigaline advanced to the County semi-final with a well-merited four point win.
Faulty shooting in the first period nearly proved costly with Carrig registering eleven wides. Some astute switches by the Carrig mentors improved matters greatly and in the second half a great team effort saw Carrig through.
Darragh Corcoran, when switched to centre-back, had an outstanding game and he was ably assisted by brilliant wing-back Aidan O Flynn. The switch of Brian Lynch from the fullback line to wing-forward was another move that paid rich dividends as he proceeded to give the Carrig attack greater menace.
Super-sub David Healy, who was introduced at the interval, scored a goal and a point while Jamie Depuis was the other Carrig goalscorer. Cillian McIntyre weighed in with four points and Peter Mullane notched three. Conor Gould also got on the scoresheet with two points.
Carrigaline now advance to play Macroom in the County semi-final on Saturday next at a time and venue to be announced. Best of Luck lads!

Cork Primary Game Hurling Team
Congratulations to Robert O Shea who was a member of the Cork Primary Game hurling team which played Clare at Semple Stadium on Sunday last at half-time in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship game between Cork and Clare.
Robert, a sixth-class pupil in Scoil Mhuire Lourdes, played at wing-forward on the Cork Primary team. This was a well-deserved honour for Robert as he is one of the most dedicated and skilful players in the Carrigaline club.

Carrigaline Under-Age GAA

City Under 12 Hurling League
Carrig travelled to Bishopstown on Friday last and following a closely-contested game were narrowly beaten on a scoreline of 3-4 to 3-3. Killian O Mahony was outstanding at corner-back while David O Donovan was in excellent scoring form, notching 2-0. David Healy and Kevin Martin also shone in a good team display.

South-East Under 12 Hurling League
Sliabh Rua were visitors to Carrigaline on Monday last. They met a Carrig side that was firing on all cylinders which resulted in a comprehensive win for the home side.
Centre-back Shane Griffin was outstanding throughout and he was well-supported by his half-back partners Killian McIntyre and Kevin Martin.
Conor Gould and Kevin O Connell formed an excellent midfield partnership, both managing to get on the scoresheet. Up front Anthony O Donnell and Jamie Depuis led their lines superbly, notching 2-2 and 1-2 respectively. Super-sub David O Shea scored a goal with his first touch.
Overall it was a super team display to get the SE hurling campaign off to a flying start.

South East Under 14 B Hurling League
Sliabh Rua were the visitors to Carrigaline last Wednesday for this league fixture. Carrig started with a spring in their step as K Kavavagh put early scores on the board. R O Shea, L Hanlon and C O Flynn all helped to put pressure on the Sliabh Rua rearguard and picked off excellent scores. If the truth be told Carrig hit a purple patch in the first period and were in a commanding position by half time. M Hanlon, S Dwane and C McSweeney were the pick of a back division that worked well together. There was to be no way back for Sliabh Rua in the second period and Carrig ran out comfortable winners in the end.

Carrigaline travelled to Courceys on Sunday evening for a league clash. Carrigaline Played excellently in the first period and scored 1.8 against a strong breeze. M Lynch, C O Flynn, S Caffery and R O Shea were to the fore in all of Carrig’s best attacks. With the aid of a stiff breeze in the second period the Carrig backs found their forwards with accurate and intelligent use of the ball. P Conway was prominent in this period and found the net with a touch of class. Although the forwards caught the eye with a series of fine scores, they were only able to do this due to the hard work of a committed defence who fought for every ball throughout the game. C Allen, J Kind, A O Reilly were particularly impressive throughout. L O Hanlon and C Malone also dominated in their exchanges. In the end Carrigaline won in a comprehensive victory.

South East U 14 C Hurling League
Carrigaline played well in the first half with S O Flynn scoring with a well taken goal. At half time Carrigaline were still in the hunt only four points adrift. However, Ballygarvan began to dominate in the second period and Carrigaline found it difficult to respond after a wholehearted first half display. L Brandon, D Hickey, M Molloy all played well in defence for Carrig. M Quirke, E Moynihan and P Aherne also contributed to the performance.

Carrigaline Under-Age GAA

Fe 12 C South-East Football League

Carrigaline 3 - 4 Tracton 1 - 13
In one of the best games of the season so far Carrigaline took on Tracton in Carrigaline on Easter Monday. The game was played at a frantic pace with both teams giving it their all. Tracton scored a number of points from play in the opening half but these were cancelled out by two superb goals from Mathew O Reilly. The sides were level at half time.

In the second half the Carrigaline backs held tough with a very good display of goal keeping, once again, by Killian O Mahoney. There was some very good midfield play by Jack Murphy and Brian Lynch and these were ably supported by Daniel O Reilly. Tracton however still continued to score points and started to pull away. Brian Coakley in the half forward line did all in his power to stop them and Carrigaline scored another goal and a couple of points. Alas, this was not enough and the Carrigaline team were beaten by a goal in the end. The Carrigaline team can take heart from a very good and determined team performance.

Carrigaline v Shamrocks
On a cold and wet Monday evening Carrigaline U-12 C football team took on a very strong and well organised Shamrocks team in Shanbally. Shamrocks dominated the first half but Carrigaline put on a very good display in the back line. Killian O Mahony was very dependable in goal and Aodan Cotter and Cormac Hickey dealt well with the high balls dropping in around the Carrig goalmouth.
Carrigaline played much better in the second half with strong performances from Brian Lynch in midfield and from forwards Jack Murphy and Danny Cremen. Danny scored an excellent point from play. On the day it was not to be and Shamrocks won what was a very sporting contest.

Fe 16 South-East Football League

Carrigaline v Valley Rovers
In the last couple of weeks we played Valley Rovers and Douglas and came away with two wins.
The win against Valley Rovers was well deserved as the team worked very hard from start to finish. This match was finished as a contest when a Valley Rovers player received a straight red card following an off the ball incident. Carrigaline made full use of their numerical advantage and went on to record an excellent victory.

Carrigaline v Douglas
On Wednesday April 19th we played Douglas in Carrigaline in what could only be described as a cracker. Carrig came out on top on a score line of 2-11 to 2-06. Both teams played a very attractive brand of football all through this game with some excellent team scores. Wayne Bruton and Kaelan Spillane were in fine form and David Spillane was superb at wing-back.

Fe 16 City Hurling League

Carrigaline v Cobh
We played our first match of the year and came away with a win against Cobh on a score line of 5-11 to 3-7. Even though we had no club training done it was a great team performance. All these lads had been training with the Community School during the past couple of months and this really showed. On the night we had great displays from James Mc McCarthy and David O Regan in the forward line. Shane Noonan, James O Shea and the goal scoring corner back Jamie Corcoran also had outstanding games.

Sarsfields v Carrigaline
On Friday evening April 21st we travelled to Riverstown to take on Sars and after an hour of superb hurling came away with a draw, 1-9 apiece. This was a great result as we missed a number of chances early on and on the night a draw was a fair result. Simon O Brien was flying on the night as was David Drake. In the backline Daniel Bagnall, Tony O Connor and Cian Barry were excellent while goalkeeper Mark O Mahony was superb.

Carrigaline 3-13 Glen Rovers 2-11
Glen Rovers were visitors to Carrigaline on Tuesday April 25th in the city hurling league. It was an excellent team performance from Carrigaline as they amassed an impressive score against a good Glen team.
Carrig started very well scoring 1-06 in the first 10 minutes. Simon O Brien and Cian Barry supplied the forward line with some quality ball who duly obliged with some well-taken scores. The Glen full back line were kept busy trying to keep the shackles on full-forward James Sheppard, who helped himself to 2 – 1, and corner-forward Adrian Lynch. James Mc Carthy at wing forward was also working very hard and was rewarded with a superb point. In the second half Carrig became a little complacent and let the Glen back into the game. Shane Noonan and Brian Twomey were outstanding in the full back line in front of very dependable goalkeeper Mark O Mahony. This was our last Under-16 hurling match before the Junior Cert.

Fe 15 City Hurling League

Blackrock v Carrigaline
Church Rd was the venue for our clash with Blackrock on Saturday April 22nd. Blackrock were really up for the game while some of our lads were not really switched on.
Consequently our hosts ran out comfortable winners on the scoreline of 3-12 to 1-6.
Cian Barry, Cian Sisk, Dylan O Keeffe, Oisin Finn and Sean Mellett played courageously in defence in an effort to stem the Rockies onslaught

Carrigaline 0 – 8 Na Piarsaigh 3 – 10
Visitors Na Piarsaigh were comfortable winners of this league clash at Carrigaline on Thursday last. Na Piarsaigh started well and led at half-time by 2 – 6 to 0 – 5.
Michael O Donovan was top scorer for Carrigaline with five points. Others to play well were goalkeeper, Cian Sisk and midfielder Sean Conlon.

City Under 13 Hurling League

Carrigaline 4 – 17 Barrs 1 – 5
An excellent team display saw Carrig overwhelm the Barrs in this Fe 13 game at Carrigaline on Saturday last. Throughout the game a plentiful supply of ball was provided to the forwards by a solid backline well marshalled by goalie Eoin O Donovan and John O Keeffe at full-back who was well supported by his corner men Philip Ahern and Eoin O Donnell.
Wing-backs, Anthony O Reilly and Jamie Kind never put a foot wrong and formed an excellent half-backline with pivot Stephen Dwane.
The midfield pairing of Cillian McSweeney and Michael Lynch were excellent throughout while Kevin Kavanagh landed some great long-range points from the half-forward position. Michael O Grady and Dylan O Brien kept the ball moving into the full-forwards and also got on the scoresheet themselves. Robert O Shea, playing at full-forward, tormented the Barrs defence and finished with a fantastic tally of 3 – 6 while he was ably assisted by corner forwards Micky Quinn and David Drinan.
Conor Cremin, Brian Curran and Michael Curtin were impressive substitutes for Carrig.
