South-East Under-16 B Football League
Carrigaline 4—12 Valley Rovers 0-4
Old rivals Valley Rovers were the visitors to Carrigaline on St Patricks Day but they left empty-handed as they came up against a determined and skilful Carrig side which easily brushed them aside.
Best for Carrig in a very good team performance were Eoin Kavanagh, Niall Martin and James Sheppard.

City U-11 Football League (Section 1A)
Carrigaline 4-10 St Nicholas 3-0

In a great team display Donal O Regan and Darragh Buckley stood out in a defence that efficiently closed down their opponents. Matthew O Reilly and Kieran Kavanagh formed an outstanding midfield partnership and gave the forwards a plentiful supply of quality ball. Up front, Brian Coakley led the forwards superbly and they added another 2-5 in the second half to put the seal on a great victory in which all panel members played their part.

CARRIG REACH U21 SEMI FINAL
U21 SE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Carrigaline 3-14 Ballinhassig 0-6
Carrigaline advanced to this years U21 semi final thanks to a relatively easy victory over Ballinhassig last Saturday in Ballygarvan. Although Ballinhassig seemed to settle into the game faster once Wesley O’Brien put Carrigs first point on the scoreboard there was no looking back. Points followed from Creed Nolan, O’Sullivan, Moran and Keohane putting Carrigaline in a commanding position after twenty minutes. Using the wind at their backs and excellent play by Harrington and Lynch at the back, O’Brien at midfield and Neville and Creed Nolan upfront Carrigaline were good value for their lead and before their opponents could muster another another score Carrig added two more points from O’Sullivan and Ronayne and as the half drew to a close Nolan scored Carrigalines first goal. Ballinhassig finished the half with a couple of points to leave it Carrigaline 1-7 Ballinhassig 0-3 at half time.
The second half started much the same as the first with both teams swapping points. Then a dominant Carrigaline took over again first with a point from Nolan and then two goals in quick succession from Neville, set up by Creed Nolan, and then O’Sullivan found the net as a result of some neat handpassing. This ended the game as a contest but Ballinhassig continued to try and make a breakthrough but they found the Carrigaline defence to strong on the day. Carrig finished the game with points from O’Sullivan twice, O’Brien and a brace from Creed Nolan to leave the scoreline at Carrigaline 3-14 Ballinhassig 0-6. So Congratulations to the lads and the best of luck in the semi final which is to be played on Wednesday evening against Valley Rovers.

Carrigaline Under-Age GAA
Following some postponements due to inclement weather and waterlogged pitches in recent weeks some of our teams got their first taste of City League action this past weekend. First into action were our under-14 footballers on St Patricks Day while the under-15’s braved arctic-like weather conditions to kick off their campaign on Monday. The next couple of weeks will see all of our football teams in competiive action both in Carrigdhoun and City Leagues and we wish them and their mentors the very best in their quest for honours

City U-14 Football League (Section 1B)
Carrigaline 3-5 Ballincollig 5-5
Carrigaline under 14 footballers got their 2007 season underway with a home game against Balincollig on St Patrick’s morning . Following a well-contested game the visitors came out on top on a 5-5 to 3-5 scoreline. Carrigaline had their chances throughout the hour but did not avail of them and a stronger Ballincollig side ran out deserving winners.
Over the coming weeks Carrigaline will play Na Piarsaigh, Mayfield, St Vincents,
St Michaels and Macroom in this league. Feile Peil commences on April 1 and Carrig will travel to Clonakilty to take on the home side in the first round.

City U-15 Football League (Section 1A)
Carrigaline 2-9 Glanmire 2-1

Carrigaline kicked off their U-15 League campaign with a comfortable, if sometimes laboured, win over Glanmire on Monday last. After a slow start Carrigaline improved, using the ball intelligently. Morgan Hanlon found the net with a pile driver and Padraic Conway took his chances well to open up a bit of daylight between the two sides. At half time Carrig had restricted Glanmire to 1 point as the score line read 2-4 to 0-1. Although Carrig started well they allowed Glanmire to come back into the game with some slack marking out the field. The East Cork side duly obliged and found the net with two efforts. After this however, Chris Allen, Diarmuid Hickey and Stephen Caffery put the shackles on the Glanmire front men and they found other opportunities hard to come by. Cian O Flynn and Luke Hanlon worked hard in the middle of the field and D O Callaghan was a live wire in attack, always offering options. J Glennon, Thomas Kent and Alan Cooney played their parts with well taken efforts late in the game. All in all Carrigaline know that they have a lot of work to do and need to improve to compete in this league against teams like St Michaels, Na Piarsaigh, Nemo and Ballincollig.

CARRIGALINE GAA NOTES

Intermediate Football League
Carrigaline v Cill na Martra

The Intermediate footballers played their first home league game
Of the year on Sunday last and it proved to be winning start. Carrig
Were given a boost a the start when Nicholas Murphy made it back from
Dublin, where he lined out with the Cork team the night before, to take
His place in the starting line up. On a day that was not ideal for good
Football Carrigaline took the game to Cill na Martra in the first half
And thanks to strong play from centre back Ray Keohane and and inside
Forward line who all got on the scoresheet Carrig were able to go in at
The break 0-8 to 0-3 in front.
Scores in the second half were hard to come by with both defences coming
Out on top. Even with the midfield pairing of Nicholas and Peter Murphy
On top Carrig struggled to make the breakthrough but thanks to some excellent
Defending especially near the end of the game they held on to record the victory
0-10 to 0-6. Football takes a break for the next couple of weeks and with the
championship provisionally fixed for the 8th april we wish them the best in
the run in to the Valley Rovers game.

JUNIOR A FOOTBALL
CARRIGALINE V TRACTON
The only team on show last Sunday were the junior
footballers and unfortunately things did not go to plan
for them. Despite playing with the wind in the first half
Carrig could not get the scores on the board and for all their
Efforts the only scored one point in the half. This meant
that they went into the break 1-2 to 0-1 down.
Showing renewed vigour in the second half the still had to
play second fiddle to Tracton as a result of two goals which came
as a result of rebounds after James O’Reilly had made some good
saves. Shane Barry was playing well in the back line, while
Peter Ronayne was making headway at midfield. Despite this the
scores did not materialise. Carrig tried till the very end but
it wasn’t to be their day.Tracton winning on ascoreline of
3-8 to 0-4.
Team: J O’Reilly, C O’Mahoney, B Irwin, S Barry, J Cowhig,
