Under-16 Premier County Football Final
This coming weekend our under-16 footballers are scheduled to take on Clann na nGael from Drimoleague in the final of the Premier County Football Championship. Having accounted for St Finbarrs in the semi-final a few weeks ago, Carrig go into this final in a determined frame of mind, eager to end the club’s recent run of County Final set-backs at adult level. They will not be taking their opponents for granted as the Drimoleague side have accounted for some notable scalps, including Bantry and Fermoy, on their way to the final. We wish the team and mentors every good fortune in their endeavours to attain County success.
Details of date, time and venue will be on club notice boards. Please support the team.

Under-14 Hurling
Over the last couple of weekends we have seen two different sides to the Carrigaline under-14 hurling team. Not having hurled since mid-September they travelled to Innishannon to play Valley Rovers in their last South-East League game knowing a win would secure the title but the lads never got going and were on the wrong side of a six point defeat. Now they face into a three way play off with Valley Rovers and Ballinhassig to decide the destination of the 2007 League title.

On Saturday last they travelled to Togher to take on Bishopstown in the City League semi-final. On a perfect playing surface at the Barrs complex we saw everything that is good about this group of lads. Despite being short a number of first team players due to injuries, they hurled with great conviction and a lot of skill to overcome physically stronger opponents on a scoreline of 3-15 to 2-4. They trailed at half-time by a point, 1-6 to 2-4, but held Bishopstown scoreless in the second half whilst adding 2-9 to their own half time total.
While all played excellently some lads deserve a special mention, Michael Lynch for an outstanding second half display, Philip Ahern, Brian Curran, Eoin O’Donnell and Dylan O’Brien.
They now play Blackrock or Na Piarsaigh in the City League final in a few weeks time.
Next weekend they again face Bishopstown in the football league quarter-final at 11.30am on Sunday morning in Bishopstown.
